Onyx, gold and seeded pearl mourning locket

One antique photo locket which is 18ct yellow gold lined over approximately 15ct gold.  The locket body measures 44mm x 36mm.  The front is mostly a cabochon cut black onyx with hollow back.  On the onyx is a decorative overlay which is set with forty one half seed pearls ranging from 1.5mm to 2mm plus two 3.0 mm half pearls and two 3.8mm half pearls.  The pearls are high quality.  The hanger is a black enameled and set with a 2.6mm half pearl.  The back of the locket is plain in a low domed style.  Inside the locket is a photo and hair arranged in decorative style.  Locket weight including glass and inlays is 28.47 grams.  Valuation $6,500.00
